Van Helsing's debut as a sire in 2011 couldn't have been better: His foals were all modern looking and had powerful movements that flowed through their bodies. Ridden by Karl Brocks, Van Helsing collected a series of first place ribbons in tests for young show jumpers and took second place in a qualifier for the Hanoverian Championships. He took his 70-day test in 2011 in Neustadt/Dosse where he was awarded the highest score of all in jumping, an 8.67, and 137 points for his predicted breeding value in jumping, also the highest of all. The guest riders even gave him a fabulous 9.75 for his ability to jump.
His sire, Valentino, a successful advanced level show jumper stationed at the State Stud in Celle, is a grandson of the legendary Voltaire through his son, Now or Never. Very early on in his career, he quickly climbed his way to the top, ranking among Germany's top ten jumper-makers in the FN's predicted breeding value statistics. His dam, Stakkora, is also the dam of St.Pr.A. Nokata (by Nobre xx). The dam's sire, Stakkato, a Bundeschampion, two-time German Champion and German Vice Champion, is one of the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program's best advertisements. The granddam, Ancora, and the great granddam, Eljana, both produced sport horses that reached advanced (S) level. The Nordspitze dam line is one of the most outstanding.
